Time for some slightly more advanced tips! This time I'll show you how to link your favorite website to any thread. Please remember that all tags go inside [ ] brackets. I will use { } so they print correctly for my examples.
Remember from Quick Board Tips that message boards use formatting tags similar to HTML tags. Getting a URL tag is the same. Let's say I want to post a link to Google, my favorite search engine. Here's what you'll see:
Please visit www.google.com for all your search needs.
Here's the code I used:
Note the {url} tags. I open {url} to tell the browser "Hey! This is where the web address starts!" and I close {/url} to say "Yo! This is where the web address stops". Now, that example is quick and easy but we know we can make it look nicer. So instead I'll show:
Please visit Google for all your search needs.
Here's the code I used there:
Note how much the second code looks like the first. The only difference is I put the actual web address inside the tag like this: {url=blahblahblah.com} That way I can put a nice description as the target for the {url} tags. I'll show you again with a generic example.
{url=http://www.genericexample.com} Generic Example's website!{/url}
Will look like this: Generic Example's website!
Got it? Good! Now you can link your favorite websites to any thread here on the board. Go ahead, show off your surfing prowess.
