I wrote this one some time ago
A Measure of Love
Look over the canyon carved by my hand. It may not be crossed by bridges of man. I cannot cross over but don't want to stay when death is awaiting nine inches away. The glitters and shimmers were once known as gifts. But now they are known as causing the rift. I cannot cross over but don't want to leave when death waits nine inches from what I can see. A bridge is now there though not of my hand but by divine power the gap has been spanned. A new life is granted and death brought to kneel for one life was given nine inches of steel. Nine inches of nail, nine inches of pain, bring light to the darkness and render it changed. The chasm may be there but it is not wide as now I cross over nine inches of life.

Nice One Wolfy I will not die unlivedI will not die an unlived life I will not live in fear of falling Or of catching fire I choose to inhabit my days To allow my living to open me Making me less afraid More accessible To loosen my heart So that it becomes a wing, a torch, a promise I choose to risk my significance. To live so that that which comes to me as seed Goes to the next as blossom And that which comes to me as blossom Goes on as fruit.

Pieces Clearer than what I have seen before the world was shaded gray. Close my eyes so I can breathe through all the mists that cloud today. Daydream of the perfect world to justify what I have been. Think again until I'm sure that what you hear is what I mean.

Here are a few more I found while looking through old notepads, memo books, etc. Some have definite rhyme schemes and rhythm, some are free verse. Please understand... you guys are reading stuff I've written over an eight year period. Anyone who has written poetry of this nature will understand that these are some of my innermost thoughts and deepest feelings. Posting this stuff is kinda like standing naked in front of a crowd. Pretty embarrasing! A few of them are very specific, written with more than a general intent. The poem is speaking to (or of) a certain person/group. It looses meaning in the translation to it's more generic form but is still not too bad. Well, without further ado, I post some poems I've written for you guys to take a peek at. Enjoy!
Arise My Child I see you standing just in sight watching, waiting, contemplating. I hear your whispers in the night learning, yearning, fire-eyes burning.
You wait for me to catch your phrase; to understand your fall from grace. You live within the restless days of careless inhibition.
But here's what I can't comprehend: your broken soul, when will it mend? If only you could learn to bend I may fulfill my mission.
You have to see the brighter side. Remember when you were a child? I'd tell you all the reasons why if only you would listen.
I see you standing just in sight watching, waiting, contemplating. I hear your whispers in the night learning, yearning, fire-eyes burning.
Heartfelt Soulsearch Oh precious gift, oh soul of life, And heart in rhythmic beat, Oh gift of life, oh unseen sight, This breath of Death's retreat, Oh waterfalls, oh starlit night, And clouds of joy and pain, Oh bardic song, oh warrior's might, Thus let the praises rain. Oh Father God, Oh Elohim, And Abba of my life, Oh how I sing of joy You bring, This fire that refines. Oh golden streets, oh diamond gates, And ivory walls of home, Oh how you call, oh liberate, This cell of flesh and bone. Oh moon that shines, oh sun that shone, And rocks with voice innate, Oh cry out loud, oh sing and shout, Thus tell of One Who waits. Oh soul of stone, oh heart of glass, And eyes that cannot see, Oh faithless child, oh mind believe, Please praise He Who made me.
In My Closet Come into my closet if you just want to hide, run from your problems, or escape daily life. Don't be afraid; I won't pick on your hair. It isn't too bad next to some hair in there! It isn't too dark, nor is it too light, everyone there seems to like it just right. No one will see you if that's what you want but all of your virtues we want you to flaunt. I just cleaned it out so there's plenty of room. Have a seat over there by the mop and the broom. But don't run around whatever you do! You might end up stepping on someone's poor shoe. One day I'm sure we'll all join the "out there". But until that day comes, remember to share! So drop what your doing and visit us all. We'd love to be friends and answer your call.
There (With You) If one day you feel like crying, call on me. I can't promise to make you laugh but I can cry with you. If one day you feel like hiding, call on me. I can't promise to show you the light but I can hide too. If one day you feel like running, call on me. I can't promise to stop you but I can run along side. If one day you feel like asking, call on me. I can't promise to have the answers but I can search with you. If one day you need the quite, call on me. I can't promise to be silent but I will listen. If one day you need to be angry, call on me. I can't promise to calm you but I will love you. If one day you must escape, call on me. I can't promise to know the destination but I'll take you there. If one day you need to be sad, call on me. I can't promise to cheer you but I can hold you close. But if one day you call and no one answers, please come quickly. I desperately need you too.
The Stage all the world is a stage and we are but the actors doctors, lawyers, politicians, urchins and fould creatures moving about in mechanical motions forgetting the final factors we endlessly search for deep connection yet paint on distinguishing features but when the lights dim, the crowd is gone, and our castles have burned to ashes, and we try to cover our mortal wounds with remenants of silken sashes, our paint is washed away by the tears of an isolated realization we have plunged ourselves into the pit of selfish condemnation but though the stage turn to dust and the audience disappear He will hear our faintest cry and hold us very near.
Walk The Road I've seen your hurt, I've heard you cry. I've seen you fail each time you try. I've seen you angry, I've heard you lie. I've seen you barely getting by. But I still comfort you as you go and walk beside you on the road. I know you've tried to run away. Don't want to go but just can't stay. Though I may not know what to say still I love you anyway. I want to be there as you go and walk beside you on the road. I'll catch you when you trip and fall. I'll love you when you're feeling small. I'll listen every time you call. I promise to be there through it all. I'm there for you where ever you go. I walk beside you on the road.
~edit~ Proofed some stuff and added the changes here.

I wrote this for Ruth's wedding.
My Love For You
My love for you is unobtainable. It may not be earned for freely I give it. My love for you is unwavering. It may not be dulled by the passage of time. My love for you is unmeasurable. It may not be tallied or divided; it is boundless and pure. My love for you is unshakeable. It may be tested and will be found true. My love for you is intentional. God brought us together, let no one break us apart. My love for you is whole, constant, and joyous. When all else fails it will remain. It is the light that guides us, the fire that warms us, the bond that holds us as one. It remains unchanged, save for growing deeper as we grow closer in heart and spirit. I love you. For today, and tomorrow, and always. I love you.
