Alright kids, Cube Squared is alive and kicking. I've uploaded all the original comics I still had access to. Sadly, its original site was unexplainably destroyed and the only episodes I was able to recover were those I had created backups on another (non public) site. But, alls good. There will be a few new ones popping up from time to time as I get inspiration to throw new ones together. Also, check out Offspring. It is a little short now but I promise to get some new creations up soon. You can visit Cube Squared and Offspring by clicking here.
Now for the FAQ.
Q) What inspired Cube Squared?
A) An old job. I worked at a call center for a while. It was complete with cubicles, horrid phones, and a shoddy excuse for a break room. A few coworkers and I had a lot of fun there and decided to immortalize some of our exploits (and things we couldn't do in real life).
Q) So why call it Cube Squared?
A) It's a play on words. We were all stuck in our cubicles for 8-12 hours a day (cubes) and most of us were computer geeks (squares). Also, mathematically speaking there's no way to square a cube, which is funny to math geeks. Hence the title.
Q) So you just call it C2 for short?
A) Well.... sorta. Initially I couldn't print the superscript 2 correctly. Although pronounced 'c squared' it was written as C2 and became 'c two' for short.
Q) Can I be part of the C2 gang too?
A) No.
Q) Please?
A) Nope. We're special.
Q) You sure about that?
A) Yep, pretty sure. But although you can't be part of the original C2 gang, I'm looking for help with the comic. See below for details.
Q) How long will C2 run?
A) I guess as long as it can really. It's sorta survived since 2002 in one form or another. It'll be up as long as it can be.
Q) Will you ever decide to let it run in a different format than what it currently exists as?
A) Maybe. Part of the humor is the off-beat stylized drawing. If anyone has major artistic skills and wants to help take C2 into the 3D or completely animated world, then I'll definitely consider it. Also I'd like it to stay on the web where people are free to exploit, plagiarize, steal, and spam it around as much as they want. There isn't enough humor in the world. What little there is should be passed around freely.
Q) I'm sick of reading. Get to the part where I can help out.
A) That wasn't a question! But here you go. Cube Squared and Offspring are currently looking for the following:
Artists to revamp current characters and create new ones. Backgrounds, items, and objects are also needed. Drawing via computer program such as Photoshop or Paint is required, real life paper-and-pen art is also a bonus.
Designers to notice flaws in the comic (colors incorrectly used, picture format too big/small/wrong, etc..) as well as on the web page itself (broken links, messed up frames or tables, etc...). Web design will also include the ability to read and write in HTML to change the page format on occassion. Designers should also be on the lookout for "cool stuff" on the net that we can add links to on the page.
Conceptualists will help come up with comic ideas. Inspiration runs thin sometimes; conceptualists will use every day life events to come up with comic ideas. This is the most important job. Keeping with the general theme of C2 will be difficult while following the necessary update for the times.
That's about all! Anyone who wants to volunteer for a position, please post in this board or email me. If you want to show some of your art but don't know of a place to store it please visit Photobucket or a similar site to upload and share your pictures. If they're really good, they'll get a spot on the C2 site! Any further questions, comments, and discussions about Cube Squared or Offspring belong on this board. Start a new thread, ask your question/post your comment, and if enough people ask the same thing it'll be added to the FAQ.
Thanks for your interest!
